    My session needs authentication... again?!

I keep getting this message every time I try to reply to a thread. If I log out and log back in again, I've lost the thread. If I open a new tab to log out and log back in again, I get the same message when trying to reply to the original thread.

It's starting to piss me off.

Anyone know what's going on? Am I the only one getting this? It's been happening only the past few days...

Yeah, I lost several threads as well.  Irritated?  Well, yes.  For at least the first 3 times or so.  Then, I just kind of made a video game out of the whole ordeal and tried to see if I could beat the clock instead.  I have a 2-3 record by the way.

As best I can tell there is a 10 minute timeout.  Why?  Dunno.  But what that means for me is not to leave so many windows open and left unattended while I post.  Basically... Get in.  Get out.  Do my business.  And get back to work.

And how does that affect the "quality" of my posts?  Well, instead of me taking the time to research the answer for a guy having problems with his disk drive spinning every 5 minutes, providing the package to install and such, I just replied back, "install the laptop thingies".  And got outta there with 3 minutes to spare.  Booyah!

I increased the unused session timeout by 10 fold. 100000 seconds. I have also increased the default cookie login length to 1000 minutes. Do you guys not check the auto login box? I do that, and I have yet to log in since the beginning of the forums and I have never had a session timeout. I guess it could be a security hazard, but I only work on my personal computers. Let me know if changing these settings helped any.

Hey OS, at one time there was a session timeout option when I logged in, and now it's missing.  I do see the "autologin" doohickey on the left and have it checked as well.

That session timeout option seemed to have disappeared as of late, and it's not in my CP either (as best I can tell).  No biggy.  It really doesn't bother me anymore and only caught me with my pants around my ankles a few times.

It hasn't helped, and I do check the auto-login box. This never used to happen (i.e., weeks ago and before that). What's changed since?

It's starting to become really annoying. I want to log in once and stay logged in.

thats really wierd because I have not had to log in since the creation of the site. I have run it on internet explorer, firefox, and konqueror. I do get that message sometimes when I go to http://kubuntuforums.net instead of http://www.kubuntuforums.net, which one are you going to? Sorry for the inconvenience. I know it must be a pain.

I'm an idiot. I have been using kubuntuforums without the www. Let me try it the correct way and see if I still run into that problem.

Hmm...using http://kubuntoforums.net might not be that uncommon...the link in http://www.kubuntu.org/support.php points to http://kubuntoforums.net, so people following that link for the first time are likely to bookmark http://kubuntoforums.net (I did :P).

Seems like that can lead into some problems later on

This whole forwarding thing has been kind of a pain. I will check my hosting to see if the forwarding is correct. Or I can have Riddell change the link.

Ok, I think I have fixed the login issue. Try clearing your cookies and logging in at either www.kubuntuforums.net and kubuntuforums.net. Thanks.
