Kubuntu for java

I've just started learning java and i'd like to use either kubuntu or ubuntu for it
id like to know if its a good choice or i should stick to win8 dev preview
i also play counter strike source on win, i'm able to play it with wine or the mac version works ?

Well, if you can install what you need to program Java, then you should be able too! Also, check out what programs are available for Java under Developer Tools in the Software Center. You might find some things that will make learning easier. I don' know whats required myself, but the best ay to find out it to look. Also, I'm not sure what Wine is capable of, but I think as long as you have good video card support for Kubuntu and Linux, it should run fine. Again, the way to find out is to try.
