    KUbuntu - try again

I originally installed KUbuntu 5.10 on my laptop as I have used KDE in the past, but I was forced to go with Ubuntu in the end because of problems I was having.

I've used Gnome for a bit now, and sorta think I do actually prefer KDE, but I would much rather have a working Gnome environment if KDE is still a bit ropey.

    Problem I had:

    1. Removable media popped up Konqueror with errors, I belive this is due to problems with ivman?

    2. Generally doesn't seem quite as stable as Ubnutu (Gnome).

    3. Wireless Configuration seemed to be far more complex in KUbuntu (in Gnome, the GUI apps worked, in KDE I was forced to get down and dirty in the command line).

    4. KMix would not keep my settings, not the end of the world, but very annoying

Don't get me wrong, I would much prefer to use KUbuntu, but not until some of the problems are ironed out. For example, will the updates (not KDE 3.5), fix problem 1 (my biggest gripe)?

I did install KDE 3.5 beta2 in order to fix problem 1 above, but this caused even more problems with my sound etc.

    Thanks

    Mark.
