I bought a Chuwi Herobox mini-pc in April 2020 and until very recently it was booting fine with Win10. Because of the booting issue covered below I swapped to my favourite OS, Kubuntu, but still the problem persists. I ran SMART diagnostics on the SDD and it's fine.
I am now seeing this regularly when I boot it. To get it to boot into Kubuntu (and Win10 previously) I have to hit Esc and click Yes.

Anybody got any clues to proceed? It's not an important piece of kit as it's connected to a TV for streaming (Chrome and Kodi) so happy to try anything. I've contacted Chuwi and heard nothing; based on lack of forum answers I'm not surprised.
