    [SOLVED] Preview Markdown in Kate?

Perhaps I am blind (or just stupid ) - but is there a way to display Markdown in Kate?
I could not find a setting or plugin…

Currently I still use ghostwriter for Markdown, but I would rather use Kate.

Install markdownpart, it should provide highlighting and previews for this.

Isn't that exactly the same thing I posted, or am I missing something?
EDIT: Ok, so there is also a markdownpart packge available, I wonder what the difference is?
EDIT2: I kind of prefer kmarkdownwebviews output, but markdownpart seems more actively developed, so take your pick (seem to do essentially the same thing)

        kmarkdownwebview:
Description: Markdown Viewer KPart & Thumbnailer
Markdown viewer KParts plugin which allows KParts-using applications
to display files in Markdown format in the target format. Markdown
file KIO thumbnail generator plugin which allows KIO-powered file
managers & dialogs to show thumbnails and previews of files in
Markdown format in the target format

          Thank you both!

markdownpart was missing, that is why Kate could not display the document preview - couldn't find the other one so far.

Where is this package located? I don't have it, and it isn't listed in a search (Muon Package Manager or via apt-cache show). Running 23.04.

            Nevermind.

That's the 'missing' package. I was looking for markdownpart and kmarkdownwebview, neither of which were found.

maybe kmarkdownwebview isn't available on kubuntu (didn't check), I'm on Neon.

Mainly, I did not refresh my page to see your reply when I got around to submitting mine

Probably yours is deprecated? KDE's gitlab has it marked as read-only, while markdownpart is active.
                Also I spy a quote:
The software has been serving as intermediate solution until some native Qt-based implementation is done. As of August 2020, there are 2 alternatives now known as available:
So the docs are a teensy bit outdated.

Markdownkpart is a separate package, available in both *buntu and neon. I don't know which one contains kmarkdownwebview in *buntu, unless it is built-in?, I can't seem to find it quickly. It IS a separate package in neon, like Markdownkpart is, so you get a choice.

                Code:
                $ apt policy markdownpart
                markdownpart:
                  Installed: (none)
                  Candidate: 21.12.3-0ubuntu1
                  Version table:
                     21.12.3-0ubuntu1 500

You are probably right - so far I could only find markdownpart in *Ubuntu's and Debian's repositories.
Perhaps kmarkdownwebview has another name there (or is not provided at all).

In openSUSE I could find both markdownpart and kmarkdownwebview (the latter is the better one I have to say…).
