If you have a UEFI-GPT system, what happens if you run
sudo dmidecode

man dmidecode

SMBIOS stands for System Management BIOS, while DMI stands for Desktop Management Interface. Both standards are tightly related and developed by the DMTF (Desktop Management Task Force).

OK, I got someone to test this, dmidecode works with UEFI+GPT just as it does with BIOS+MBR -- or, I should say the report looks like what it should look like.

I also got tested sudo gdisk -l in UEFI+GPT; working nicely to report what we would expect it to report (based on the UEFI articles).
