Favorite icon for the website?

Rekonq is now showing the new favicon image. I used Ignorantguru's kscrubber script to 'clean' my system a few minutes ago, and after logging back in and launching Rekonq, the favicon shows.

I just tried

wget http://www.kubuntuforums.net/favicon.ico

and the correct, new image was downloaded.

I noticed that both Rekonq and QupZilla have options to clear website icons. When I did that in both browsers, the correct favicon appeared. What's curious is how these browsers handled the new icon differently. Rekonq appears to always use the saved favicon. QupZilla also had the old icon in its cache, but it was displaying the 4 x 4 plus sign...even when I navigated to the icon's URL. Only after explicitly clearning QupZilla's icon cache did the new one appear.

The 'new' favicon.ico image size on our server is 16x16 pixels.

Curiouser and curiouser... I don't use a cache at all in Rekonq and I'm still seeing the old icon. In QupZilla, I see the itty bitty plus sign. I saved the favicon.ico file to my hard drive and opened it in Gwenview; the image is 4 px X 4 px.

I already emptied the cache several times.

Interesting. In Rekonq 0.9.2 here, it renders the same fuzzy blue 'plus sign' as you showed us.

No. The new favicon image is the same as the one shown on the Kubuntu|Friendly Comp... tab in your image.

Firefox shows the correct favicon.

Icon has been updated. You may need to clear your caches (I did).

Semi-related...We're still using the old kubuntu icon as a favicon, perhaps it could be updated?

Found the Chromium problem:

Chromium stores favicons in a SQLite database, not the browser cache. The issue above contains a number of reports about malfunctioning or out-of-date favicons. Creating a new user profile for Chromium appears to be the only real fix.

Hm, your issue is something else, then. Your HTML appears fine, BTW.

No need. I have Chromium set to clear all cookies on closing and to treat all cookies as session cookies. I've never seen the kubuntu icon in Chromium when connecting to KFN.
