Hi all. Just wanted to post a quick note to let people know about a new KDE network traffic monitoring tool called Socket Sentry. It's a Plasma widget that sits on your desktop or a panel and binary packages are available for Kubuntu. Here are a couple of screenshots. Try it out and let me know what you think. Thanks.

Re: Socket Sentry
Hi,
Just installed it and it seems to work fine. A few ideas, though:
1. When using as a widget from panel, the widget window is unnecessarily too tall, in my opinion, since my case it's mostly empty. Is there a way to set the height to match the number of rows in the table?
2. Again, when using from panel, the widget hides itself when you click on anything else. I don't know if it's possible but it would be nice if there was somewhere you can click/tick to stop it from doing so. Something like the device notifier which stays open and above all windows if you open it manually.
3. I might be thick, but the state icons are meaningless to me. It would be nice if you could add a tooltip when hovering on an icon which give some description (i.e. Downloading/Uploading).
Golan.

Re: Socket Sentry
Hi Golan.
This would be difficult because Socket Sentry pauses the packet capture when the widget is iconified in order to minimize resource usage. So I don't know how many rows there will be right away. Even if I did know, it can change very quickly.Originally posted by Untitled1. I can look into this. Actually, on my machine (KDE 4.3), the device notifier applet does not stay open if you click off it, even if I opened it manually. Although I think I've seen the behavior you describe when a new device is inserted. BTW- If you find this particularly annoying, another option is to place it on your desktop and use CTRL+F12 to bring it to the foreground.Originally posted by Untitled2. There are arrows that point up (for uploading) and down (for downloading) on the state icons, although they might be hard to see depending on your screen resolution, so.... red means up, blue means down.Originally posted by Untitled3.
