    New Here: Questions

I am a primary Linux user, but have Windows on for gaming and such. I like kubuntu, but there is one thing that annoys me: when I compile stuff in Kubuntu or virtually any Debian-based distro, there are always intermittent freezes and delays and they repeat. It gets really annoying. I'm on the verge of going back to Gentoo unless someone can explain this to me and a fix around the freezes. It is definitely not my system as I have an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ which is more than capable.

Is there a site where I can download .deb from. I know there is rpmfind and rpmphone for Fedora/SuSE/Mandrake, but I need something for Kubuntu. Other than that I'm pretty happy.

Can you give an example of a program you're having a hard time finding a .deb for or compiling from source?

Can I assume since you're a Linux user, you're familiar with the apt-get system?
