    lost+found directory?

Why is the purpose of the 'lost+found' directory? When I attempted to move a file from said directory to its parent directory, I was presented with a window stating I would overwriting the file with itself. When I deleted the folder, the files remained.

    THanks.

I found this on Neowin's Filesysetem Overview:

/lost + found: the directory to find things after your drive has been fscked (fsck = file system check)
Sorry this took so long, I saw this post this morning, and I've been wondering about it all day

No worries on the delay in that I have been busy with trying to learn Kubuntu! THanks for the link to the article. It was informative.
