    SOLVED: Can't make a donation

    OP:

    I usually make my (small) yearly donation at my profile/settings page using my credit card.
    I don't use Paypal.
    But this time, I do not see a way to bypass setting up a Paypal account with password.
    Usually, Paypal has handled the payment for "Guests," taking care of your the card payment,
    but not forcing you to set up a Paypal account.

    I'll check with Open Source. PayPal still has this option, but the 'seller' has to have it turned on.

    I'm really sorry, but it appears that they must have changed something recently. I have the "Guest Option" enabled, but if you look at the fine print it says not valid for "subscriptions." I'm not sure why.

      Did you click on the Learn more link? I'm curious, because if you have a PayPal account, purchasing a Paid Subscription here isn't a problem, or hasn't been! I'll see if I can purchase.

        Yes. I have a PayPal account, and I was able to get the payment page without issue. So our Subscriptions aren't the issue. It's not having a PayPal account that's the problem.

            PayPal allows the use of Pre-paid cards as the linked account. So you could create a PayPal account and link it to a pre-paid card. Just putting it out there.

                I am encouraged by Claydoh's post to look again, 3rd time ...

                SUCCESS! but tricky!
                I filled out the phone#, c.c. details, address.
                At the bottom of all that, there is some note, like: 'purchase protection only with PayPal account.'
                Below that, on the left is the PP yellow shield icon, and right of that is a circle with a check mark in it ...
                BUT it looks like fixed text copy, not like optional "check mark" boxes.
                I clicked that check mark (on the right). It vanished,
                and an option magically pops up saying, Pay with Credit Card.
                It worked!
                So I paid and extended (or re-started) my basic membership just now, 6 a.m. my time.

                I'm explaining this in case someone else encounters this catchy ad/marketing trick.

                BTW, claydoh, the screen I got (3 times) is different from your screen, but with the same info,
                except that option to "pay with debit or c.c." is not immediately visible until you do what I just explained.

                One more note:
                I did notice that it considered me a NEW member. Maybe because I allowed my membership to expire a little?
                I'm suspicious that if you are a continuing member, your screens might be different?
                Now, that would be some computer programming! But that "new member" deal-y did stick out at me.

                On August 6th, my CenturyLink DSL internet and old-fashioned landline had an outage (in the neighborhood).
                I could not get CTL to fix it, though they made 3 promises to do so. Been using cell phone mobile data/hot spot all of August into Sept.
                CTL is not maintaining its copper infrastructure.

                Fast Fwd to Sept 2nd: I got T-Mobile 5G (wireless) internet (~ 250 Mbps) and Consumer Cellular landline (cellular-based, infrastructure is AT&T and/or T-Mobile, $20/mo).
                I pre-ordered T-Fiber. When it comes (in 1 to 3 months? -- I have the hardware box in my back yard, it's not yet hot),
                I'll transition off 5G to their fiber optic. Very affordable here for basic 400 Mbps, like around $50-$60/month, free installation, nothing to buy.
                I'll probably set up a 2-pack mesh system, a TP-Link product, after they install the fiber.

                    The real trick is on that check box. They make it look like it is not an option but is checked for you as your only option.
                    Btw, there was not a "Solved" option for me today on my OP. :-)
