[RESOLVED] Mark Channels Read not working

I've read all the posts in the Announcements Sub-Forums yet they still say "Unread". All posts as far as I can see show they are "read" (not highlighted or flagged unread). I clicked Mark Channels Read but the read status isn't changing.

I noticed the read status changed to Unread yesterday with the slow response times on KFN but didn't mention it because I thought it was related. Today I'm still not able to change the read status by clicking Mark Channels Read. All other sections and sub-forums are behaving as expected (I read a post and it changes from "Unread" to read).

Did something change or is it my profile?

Working for me. Do you have any browser add-ons or plugins that might be interfering? Just a guess.

I only have uBlock Origin. I turned it off and marked the channels read.
      They are still marked "Unread".

I cleared the browser cache and attempted to mark the channels "read" from the Announcement section without success.
I backed up the bread crumb to the Important Information section and was able to mark that "read" successfully.
It is now marked "read" for me on the Forum and Home section (top).

This is the part that has me scratching my head...

The Announcement section still shows unread.

It was resolved this morning over my first cup of coffee.

I had some time while sipping coffee so I took the following steps below:
              • From the Home Page of KFN I clicked on the link for Announcements.
              • The Announcement sections and the sub-forums were still marked unread. I tried Mark Channels Read again, but it still didn't work.
              • I clicked through all 11 pages of the Kubuntuforums Announcements sub-forum. All posts showed read. I didn't open any of the posts.
              • I clicked back up the bread crumb to the Important Information Section. It was marked read as I saw yesterday when I reported only the Announcements section was marked unread.
              • I clicked the Home icon in the bread crumb. Then I clicked the Announcements link again and it showed unread.

I doesn't make any sense to me why that worked. I thought I did that the day before, so I'm not really convinced that's what solved it. I doesn't matter now. It's gone!

              Work smarter not harder right?

Something else that will set the Unread status of a Channel is/are Comments to a post. Clicking the Mark Channels Read doesn't clear the Unread Channel status on unread Comments. So, if a Channel has no new 'Posts', but a Comment is created, the Channel status gets reported as Unread. With a Channel that has A LOT of threads/posts, this creates a 'problem', as if the Comment is made on an older Post; many pages into the Topic; finding it so you can 'read' it and thus clear the Unread status can be a bit tedious. I know, as it's happened to me on numerous occasions.
