    [RESOLVED] Missing KDE apps

Well, I've somehow removed? didn't install? my KDE apps. I've looked for a meta-package or group install, like sudo apt-get install kde-applications-meta. Below is my "All Applications"--"K"

Click image for larger version Name:	Screenshot_20250920_001400.png Views:	0 Size:	100.6 KB ID:	688523

I'm pretty sure this was populated at one point or another. Any idea how to fix this without re-installing?

I've tried installing the kde-standard meta-package, but it wants me to install knotes >= 4:23.08.5, which sounds suspiciously like an older version of KDE.

I'm tired of maintaining my system. I'll let Neon do it for me.

What are you looking for? Neon doesn't install anything outside of Firefox and the basic Plasma desktop components. So what you see is correct on a fresh install.

Metapackages are hard, as neon doesn't create as many, so what you see are the Ubuntu and even Debian ones, that may have plasma-5 specific items, such as knotes-- which hasn't been ported to Plasma 6 or is dead.

The Kdegames meta-package for example is an Ubuntu/Debian version, but everything in its list is available in Plasma 6

The kde-standard depends on a number of meta-packages, such as kdepim. And there is no Knotes for Plasma 6, hence the error messaging. There is no meta-package like Arch's kde-applications-meta excpet for maybe kde-standard - which breaks because of the kdepim thing.

So basically you need to install what you want on a more individual level.

I haven't looked in a bit, but bug reports on KDE's bugzilla against neon packaging would be appropriate, if they haven't already been filed, like this one from some random user dude. No one other than me and two neon devs are subscribed, so no one really cares much.

Huh... ok.. I can be mistaken, thnx claydoh.

Don't assume nobody cares. Nobody cares, until our systems break. I'm not going to subscribe to any bug list, because I'm really, really tired of trying to be smarter than my system. Consider me retired.

Ha-ha! I just realized who that random user dude is!
