Curious why a leap to Arch or CachyOS seems like the best first option but not Kubuntu or even KDE Linux? I guess if you're just tired of the *buntu world and were waiting for an opportunity to move to an Arch based distro, that makes sense.

Everything is a rolling release, including KDE. Arch users are probably using the same versions of Plasma, KDE and QT.

No, but KDEneon's desktop system is. So is Arch Linux. My point was that Arch Linux and KDENeon both have KDE/Plasma on a rolling release, so you'll most likely have the same versions of everything. If I remember correctly (and I very well might not), the Plasma maintainer (Rojas) in Arch also works for KDE.

Except for kernels, drivers, and very often Qt.
Neon's testing or unstable don't have that yet, even.

Qt versions can cause noticeable differences in terms of bugs fixed/introduced.

And even things like systemd and other system level differences can have a big effect on things.

Kernel, yes. Chances are, you and I are using different kernels right now. Drivers? I really don't see how that would be different, other than Arch using 'newer'. QT6? Arch is on 6.10.0 and we're on 6.9.2. As for systemd, since KDENeon isn't an operating system rolling-release, I would say that it would also be newer.

I still stand by my claim that Arch Linux running Plasma is using the same (or newer) KDE/Plasma/QT6 as KDENeon. The difference is that KDENeon makes sure your system is working correctly(-ish) and Arch requires you to pay attention to what you're doing and fix any issues you find yourself. Hence, why I'll stay with KDENeon until the very end. Then, to keep myself using the latest and greatest versions of KDE/Plasma/QT, I'll switch back to Arch.

It is but that is the core OS build. It could use any distro for that, in theory.

There is no Arch package management for example. No pacman or AUR. It is a bit different even for an " immutable" system.

Very interesting. (I answered yes three times.) But do any of those have Plasma 6, which I have come to love?

Fedora Kinoite, the KDE version Silverblue has current Plasma, as will KDE Linux, when it offers a user-level version. It currently uses beta/pre-release Plasma builds.
Bazzite has current Plasma, as well, iirc this one is Fedora Silverbleu/Kinoite based as well.
