There isn't much new in maverick yet, mostly compiler packages...so currently it's rather safe. But things will start breaking eventually, so all the normal disclaimers apply:
1. Don't use on machines you depend on.
2. It will break.
3. Don't expect to get immediate help (if any) when it breaks.
Other than that, it's a nice way to follow the development if you can solve problems on your own and have a spare machine available.
