I have been testing Kubuntu, however I noticed that the non-KDE applications (such as Firefox and OpenOffice) don't have access to some printing devices (PDF creator, other instances of the same printer, etc).
I believe I only have access to my printer due to it having been installed directly on CUPS (it is an Epson Stylus C87).
Is there a way to give access to KDE printing system for all applications? My electronic banking system, for instance, doesn't accept me loggin in from konqueror, and gmail has its crippled html interface instead of the default js one.
If the printing can't be made consistent across the desktop applications, wouldn't it be better to use a PDF generator and everything else directly through CUPS instead of through KDE printing system?
