USB Flash not mounting/appearing in Konqueror

When I insert a USB flash, it dows not appear under the "devices" tab of Konqueror and it does not automount.

I can mount it manually - no problem. But shouldn't this all happen automatically and be writable for a normal user through? I thought Konqueror would show newly mounted devices under the devices tab?

The USB device is recognized - here's the syslog...

Re: USB Flash not mounting/appearing in Konqueror

This problem seems to have been resolved in the latest updates.

    Thanks!

It looks like media:/ is using HAL again, but now HAL/dbus is mounting my USB drive twice, once under /media/(device name) and once under /media/sda1. Annoying, but not fatal.

Aha, a reboot fixed that problem.

Now, if I could just get Konqueror to not open a window when I insert my USB drive, I'd be set

          Hi,
How to stop media opened in Konquerer when plugging in

Breezy apparently has a new feature installed that automatically opens media such as USB sticks, cameras, CD's and DVD's when you pop them in. This can be rather annoying at times. You pop in your USB stick and a konquerer window opens. This is controlled by the application Ivman and the configuration is quite complicated and in xml. Rather uninstall ivman with Adept or Synaptic and reboot to stop this. You can always reinstall from your install CD if needed.

          Regards
Matchless

Proudly kubuntu!

Thank you! This is the first time I've seen a sensible solution to this very annoying problem!

If you uninstall ivman, does this mean that the devices will not be automatically mounted as well.

I think the ideal solution, would be that teh devices are automounted, but Konqueror does not auto popup.

              any thoughts?

I just tried this. Having just uninstalled ivman, I put a cdrom in the drive and it appeared in konqueror's media tab. But since ivman is now gone, nothing else popped up.

apt wants to remove kubuntu-desktop when I try to remove ivman...is there a way not have kubuntu-desktop removed?
