    I can't obtain the 3d acceleration with 2.6.12-9-386/K7

    I've tried to enable 3d acceleration with an nvidia geforce FX5200 with the package nvidia-glx and the 2.6.12-9-K7 kernel for my amd pc but at last the 3d acc doesn't work!
    I've tried with the nvidia*.run pack but it say that the kernel source doesn't contain the right modules for 7667 drivers.
    Which package or kernel do I need for a correct installation?
    The nvidia driver is much better than the nv of course but when I test glxgears the wheels are fluid but not fast....also the tuxracer sometimes jump from frame to another....
    sorry for my english

    Similar problem

    I tried using the 2.6.12-9-K7 kernel too, installed all available modules but X is stating "No screens found" > X do not starts although my xorg.conf is working perfect with 2.6.12-386

    Cheers

      I had that problem too before. Don't remember exacly how i got rid of it.. But check if you have the package linux-restricted-module-k7.

      Try
      $ sudo apt-get linux-k7

      Also, the glxgears program is updated so it doesn't print FPS. Try this in the your console:
      $ glxgears -iacknowledgethatthistoolisnotabenchmark
      Not a benchmark you see. But it could be handy to see if something is very wrong.

              I've uninstalled all K7 packets and reinstalled them as described above. Now it works perfect!
