    Should kio-extras be made a Dolphin dependency/recommend?

    A user of Ubuntu 18.04 installed Dolphin using sudo apt install dolphin. However, the pane to enable previews was empty. Installing kio-extras fixed that.

    https://askubuntu.com/questions/1170...ail-how-to-fix

    OTOH, if the user also installed gwenview, then kio-extras would have come along.

    If it's thought suitable, kio-extras could be added as a dependency/recommend for dolphin.

    $ apt rdepends kio-extras
    kio-extras

    file a bug report on dolphin in launchpad so that devs might see this better.....though looking at it, dolphin in 19.04 already has it as a recommends, so the issue has been fixed. Not sure if suddenly adding new software dependencies is something that is normally appropriate/allowed for an LTS.

      Yes, I too see it's there. I guess filing a bug for 18.04 doesn't seem that important.

      BTW, kudos to the devs for a great job on 19.04. I'm downloading a bunch of updates ATM. Smooth!

      This is from my VM:
