I see the official release of Kubuntu 26.10 is today (15th October). I have been testing it for a while and it seems very stable.

The same here...I've been testing for some time also in QEMU/KVM and it has been stable for me. The snap issue seems to have been resolved mostly from my testing. I can click refresh to show no updates available after a snap update. I haven't had any issues to note since then. I have a screenshot from my Kubuntu 26.10 here:

I'd like to try it on real hardware to see if everything works as well as as it does on Kubuntu 26.04. I'm mostly concerned about my old graphics card support since I use the nvidia-driver-580 (proprietory, tested).
Kubuntu website still shows Kubuntu 26.10 in beta status currently.

Ubuntu website says, "Ubuntu 26.10 was released on 15 October 2026."

Maybe we need time for things to be updated. I don't see any updates yet.OS: Kubuntu 26.04 LTS

Correction... It is not resolved. It hung today after Snap and Flatpak updates with the Refresh trigger button grayed out. I had to click another section (example: Installed or Home) before the Updates section completed and said "Up to date" with the Refresh trigger active again.Originally posted by life0riley View Post... Gave 26.10 a spin today looks pretty good. But just did normal stuff. I'm sticking with 26.04 LTS though.

"The Plasma Wayland session is the default and fully supported session. The Plasma X11 session is not installed by default and is not supported by the Kubuntu team. Kubuntu 26.10 is the last Kubuntu release where the plasma-session-x11 package will be available."
i can see i'm gonna be of kubuntu when 26.10 is EOL , cause just F#@k Wayland ok ?
anyway , my 2 cents ...▁ ▂ ▄ ▅ ▆ ▇ █ ᄂIПЦX FӨЯ ᄂIFΣ █ ▇ ▆ ▅ ▄ ▂ ▁

You mean you'll be off KDE Plasma entirely, rather. Or on Kubuntu LTS with it's Plasma LTS.Originally posted by die.boer View Postcan see i'm gonna be of kubuntu when 26.10 is EOL , cause just F#@k Wayland ok ?

Nothing lasts forever.
The KDE Plasma X11 session was active for nearly 30 years (or about 42 years if counting the underlying X Window System/X11 protocol released in 1984), before native Plasma X11 session support was officially retired on October 14, 2026 with the release of Plasma 6.8.
Key Details- KDE Plasma X11 Session: Existed for close to 30 years as the default display server for the KDE desktop environment.
- Underlying X11 Protocol: Originally released in 1984 (making the protocol about 42 years old when KDE dropped native support in 2026).
- Current Status: Native X11 sessions were removed in Plasma 6.8, shifting the desktop exclusively to Wayland, though legacy X11 apps continue to work via the XWayland compatibility layer.

so if my searching is correct , 26.04 LTS ends April 2029
the next LTS (28.04) is April 2028 , with no X11 packages available .
26.10 with X11 packages is in between there , an interim release and will receive security updates and critical fixes until July 2027.
so yea i think i'm good on 26.04 for a few more years , with X11
in my humble opinion , going by the amount of problems being solved (just on this forum) just by going to a X11 session , i thinks Wayland is not there yet for the masses▁ ▂ ▄ ▅ ▆ ▇ █ ᄂIПЦX FӨЯ ᄂIFΣ █ ▇ ▆ ▅ ▄ ▂ ▁

I'm running with Plasma (Wayland) on both Kubuntu 26.04 LTS systems: Laptop and Desktop. No issues at all.Slava Ukraini! 🇺🇦
