Dual booting *ubuntus, multi-disk, 1 or more ESPs

    -- advertisement -- ;-)

    My how-to ain't half bad:

Dual booting two (or more) *ubuntu operating systems in UEFI mode -- 1 drive or 2 drives, 1 ESP or 2 ESPs
    https://www.kubuntuforums.net/forum/...-esp-or-2-esps

It addresses topics I see people asking about around here regarding UEFI and ESPs.
It is written in a tutorial mode, which should help anyone doing this stuff for the first or second time or for review.
I just read through it myself and caught a couple typos I corrected.
Of course, it can't be purely tutorial, it would be three to five times as long (it's already 19 pages, 8.5x11" 1/2-inch margins, single space 12 pt type).
But it's pretty clear for DIY.

Note: It does not deal with Windows. It deals only with Ubuntu-based OSs (but I think you can usually, easily extend it to other Linux OSs).
You can certainly use the principles to help you set up dual booting with Windows OSs. There's plenty of sources for help on this.
My how-to should equip you with the know-how when it comes to dealing with your UEFI booting.

    Table of Contents

SECTION 1 Dual booting two OSs on the SSD with one ESP
SECTION 2 Using two ESPs on one disk drive

    -- sudo efibootmgr -c -d /dev/sdx -p n -L NewLabel -l \\EFI\\<directory_current>\\<boot_loader>
SECTION 4 Creating separate NVRAM variables for two *ubuntu OSs
SECTION 5 Installing an SSD M.2 as a second drive -- using the disk name nvme_n_p_
SECTION 6 Install Kubuntu 24.04 to the M.2 as a third OS (so, 2 drives, 3 OSs, 1 ESP)
SECTION 7 Three OSs on two drives using an ESP on each drive
SECTION 8 Concluding comment, and surviving updates

    APPENDIX -- Table of Contents

This how-to contains a listing of all my UEFI how-to's:

A decent, quick read, for those who sort of know the basics is:
