    Rovers Return

Been away for quite some time. I had a stroke which knocked me off my perch about 4 years ago. I had drifted away from the forum before that. All along I have been a Kubuntu user -- more than twenty years now I think.
Looking forward to the appearance of Raccoon on general release.
I'm very impressed with the updated installation process and the overall appearance and responsiveness. I have an old laptop (Thinkpad) where the beta behaves very happily. I'm waiting for the release any day now when I'll do upgrades on a new computer and a laptop.
It's nice to be back here in the forum. It has always been a valuable space for me.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm just an ordinary non-geeky user.
Yes, The Rovers Return is a Pub in a TV soap called Coronation Street depicting life in the North West of England which is where I am based.

Many years ago while dual booting OS's Windows offered to fix some anomalies in my filing system.
It completely destroyed any chance of recovering my many files but taught me a few lessons.

Keep home files in a separate storage area away from system files.
            Make regular backups.
Don't under any circumstances trust Windows, in fact I avoid having it installed where ever possible.
Stick by Kubuntu which quietly resolves its occasional problems without kicking over the whole kaboodle.

I'm really looking forward to doing upgrades to Resolute soon.
Having checked out the beta I know we are going to see something really impressive.
Well done and thank you to all who have worked on this.
