Kubuntu 24.04 LTS Name is Noble Numbat

Today I finally found out the name for Kubuntu 24.04 at a number of sites, eg:

    https://news.tuxmachines.org/n/2023/...Code_Name_Anno unced.shtml

The Numbat is a small Australian animal which looks like this:

The Numbat, also called the banded anteater, is a small endangered marsupial animal native to parts of Australia. They have a long sticky tongue that allows them pick up termites, which they eat exclusively.

Being an Australian, I do like this name and it is certainly a good one for an LTS.

Perhaps there is no "alpha" release for Kubuntu 24.04 yet?

Where are you looking? Normally, it is just the daily-live ISO images found on https://cdimage.ubuntu.com/, just look under /kubuntu as well as the other flavours.

The daily ISO image for *buntu would technically be 24.04, but at this point everything is still 23.10 for the most part, with some build infrastructure changes so far.
There won't be any "official" images until MUCH later, at the beta stages, maybe some earlier, but not likely. The daily builds are already there for early testers.

I expect that these would not be much advanced on Mantic. At this stage I do not mind waiting as my Router has failed and I am now using my Mobile for Internet connections. I expect to get a replacement next week and after that my fibre connections will be back to normal.

So plenty of time for the Kubuntu team to post an ISO.

I am also looking forward to your reports!

Lol, if I had actually looked inside the Kubuntu daily builds directory, I would have seen that there hasn't been one for a few weeks. But then I remember that Kubuntu don't start working on the upcoming release so early, as there really is nothing for them to do since they are only concerned with packaging desktop items. No sense doing much of that before more of the toolchain changes and merges from Debian are complete.

                  Daily images are now up:

                  http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/daily-live/current/

They reason they were not before was simply a technical issue causing the build to fail at the livefs stage
