Yup. My folks had the first TV on our block and back in the mid-50s. Kids would come over after school to watch with me. It was all Hopalong Cassidy, the Lone Ranger, Gene Autry, Roy Rodgers, old cartoons and B-grade western movies. The movies were from the 30's and early 40's. The westerns were shown in the afternoon and Sid Cesear, Jackie Gleason were shown in the evening, and the more "racy" ones were only shown after 10PM at night. Peeking a look at Mae West was also a goal. The TV stations played the national anthem at 12 midnight or 1AM and then signed off till 6AM. News was live and weather was on flannel boards or hand drawn on maps of the state and the US. Lots of local TV stations had their own shows and stars.
