Galaxy S5 Download Boost Disabled by Top Three Mobile Carriers

    This is disappointing!

Verizon, AT&T and Sprint Disable Download Boost on Galaxy S5

What mobile phone/carrier combination is the best?

Not surprising though. They couldn't charge a price for it so they disable it. I guarantee they'll come back with some lame excuse of how it degrades their throughput and for other users too. Lame, lame, lame! Greedy #@^&%^$ are all they are.

They're already up to S5! I only got an S3 last year.

This is why I hate technology so much. I'm always behind. I'm still waiting to upgrade my computer from DDR2 ram to DDR3. Hmm.. I might do it in the next decade...

My son has an S4 Active. It's a nice phone! I'd be ticked if I bought the S5 thinking it had faster download speeds only to find out later my mobile throttled it.

Oh, this is easy: T-Mobile plus any phone you like! Their new un-contract plans absolutely kick ass. Oh, and they have the coolest CEO in the universe. Watch the below clips (warning: strong language).

Thanks. That's going to be the plan. I'll wear headphones when I watch the videos.

Indeed, that's the way we do it in Europe, get a phone yourself and a plan of choice.
It costs some up-front but at the end of the typical 2 year contract you are better off.

That's how I got my Nexus 4, they are like anything Nexus not even officially available in The Netherlands so like many others I bought it in Germany and put the SIM from my old n900 in it.

The best coverage for around where I live is US Cellular, Verizon and Sprint are next, T-Mobile ain't to good round here

My Motorola Electrify M is decent, not enough RAM or processor though

I hadn't yet tried to scan for available networks here in Lafayette, LA.

The companies' Blackberry has a (Dutch, corporate) Verison contract and automatically connects to AT&T on 2G.
The scan reveals the only other option is T-Mobile 2 & 3G
                    Calling costs €1.00 p/m, texting €0.42 and data €5.00 p/MB.

My private Nexus with a very cheap Dutch KPN contract (no free minutes or text but ~750MB per month for €7.50) connects to T-Mobile 3G.
But the price is rather spectacular, calling €1.42 p/m, being called €1.02 p/m, sending a text €0.76 and receiving is free.
                    Data is €10.12 p/MB!!!

Back home I could for roaming probably chose from at least 5 different providers.
The EU has last week decided as of 2015 inter-EU roaming has to be for the same price as national costs.
Which possibly means national tariffs could go up.

So I use a Voipbuster SIP contract that is at a one-off cost of €10.00 free for 3 months and then between 1 and 1.5 cents per minute to most of the Western world.

Regardless of the bitching about the Euro it stands at US$1.38 compared to US$1.30 a year ago.

Would I go for a less than minimum contract I'd probably get better prices.
