No, development on Utopic has stopped As they are shooting for plasma 5 for Vivid, there won't be a separate iso, I don't think.. Or rather thay simply have not made the transition over to plasma 5 in the regular daily Vivid isos just yet.

That looks like a regrouping to me!
So, plasma5 will be addable or removable like KDE is to Gnome, or Gnome to KDE?
Plasma5 in Utopic, as a guest OS, was a stinker, but I am going to install Vivid as a guest OS and follow the development of Plasma5 in it. Thanks for the heads up, Claydoh!

Not really. The development will simply move to the regular Vivid track, so if/when Plasma 5 does become the default, it will replace Plasma 4 (the desktop programs are the mostly same between them, btw), there will be no side-by-side. Think KDE3 to KDE4, but without the drama. (Though I am sure there will be plenty of that created by professional sticks-in-the mud)

Last time I tried Plasma 5 in a virtual machine, it did not run well at all, but that was early on. Been using it as my daily driver for about, what, a month now? Have not done so on my XBMC box yet, there is no dire need for me to do that just yet.

Downloaded and installed Vivid as a guest OS. (I removed Oracle's 4.3.18 and installed the 4.3.10 version from the repository, with guest additions automatically installed. Vivid installed and works well.)

Vivid is interesting. There are at least a 100 widgets already to install. The Settings GUI is not populated, which is proof this is a pre-alpha, but Vivid runs very well.
