Since Kubuntu 14.10 beta was released, the Plasma5 option iso was relesed. So I decided to install that instead of the neon5 which was based on 14.04. Since doing this change, there have hardly been any updates to plasma5. Also, the performace seems to have gone backwards. The login screen now requires me to click on the password window to login. Also, the network manager now requires me to connect each time I boot. There are no options for akonadi on the System Settings which is a definite limitation.
Currently this and other issues such as, widgets with limited number and control, no HP icon, VLC menu selection not working, no volume control icon, make plasma5 more limited than neon5.
I am surprised that there is this difference and I hope we see some improvement in the near future.
