    What Linus thinks of nVidia

Linus Torvalds plainly states his opinion about nVidia (caution, strong language):

(Go to 48:10 to find the nugget)

An analysis suggesting this might just anger the company further:

      Try this:
      Code:
      sudo apt-get install youtube-dl
      youtube-dl http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MShbP3OpASA
That'll pull down the MP4 file over regular HTTP, possibly bypassing any blocks.

Anyway... someone in the audience asked a question about Optimus and why nVidia seems so obstinate about helping to get this beast working. Linus replied that nVidia is the most difficult hardware manufacturer to work with, and provided a very sharp two-word summary of his feelings about the matter, accompanied by the corresponding physical gesture

That was hilarious! Linus is my hero, lol! Sadly, I am an nVidia customer, partially because they DO write drivers for Linux, the other part is because I have never had very good experiences with other graphics chips/drivers. So as long as nVidia keeps writing drivers for Linux, I will keep buying their products. But I do understand where Linus is coming from and he has to understand that corporations are just that, corporations, they have their secrets and bottom line to think of.

It'll have to wait till I'm home, sites like youtube are blocked and the speed we are allocated per user is limited at 16kbit/sec.
I tell you, these multinational oil companies have some serious financial problems. (can't afford a smiley)

I am guessing it's to quash any porn surfing on company time, lol.
