I don't think that's necessarily as bad as it sounds. I've long held the opinion that the less influence Canonical has on kubuntu the better off kubuntu will be.
It's always unfortunate to lose a paid developer, but it's not like Canonical has really done much to promote kubuntu anyway.

I was having trouble posting there as well.
Since I'm assuming then that KDE packages would move from main to universe, where XFCE (Xubuntu) and LXDE (Lubuntu) reside, will we see updates through the official repos (updates, proposed, backports) instread of through the PPA's?
