    Windows gets Ubuntu One client!

So, it seems that Canonical has given priority to Windows over Official Ubuntu derivatives. I believe it is a wise decision to create a native client for other OSes and I fully appreciate it, but why neglect the huge KDE user base?

    What do you think?

P.S: I know that a KDE based ubuntu one client is being developed for months, but AFAIK, there is only one person working on it and unfortunately it is still not even at beta stage.

The whole 'cloud' concept is not really new, although it certainly was made out to be. Remember when Java came on the scene? 'OS independent' access was the holy grail, and as it turned out, one of the biggest 'direct' threats to Microsoft that come along. Windows did everything it could to kill Sun Java, which was why they developed their own 'special' version of Java.

As Kubuntu is a community-based distro, albeit one officially sanctioned by Canonical, it will (rightly so imo) NOT get the same resources as Ubuntu's desktop gets. Even a Windows client is logical to provide a service to those new to linux and/or dual-booting.

The real issues preventing a KDE U1 client are centered iirc around the constantly changing authorization system used in Ubuntuone. I believe this has been addressed at the recent UDS

So hopefully once a new U1 sso system is done for Natty, perhaps it may be easier to re-implement it for Kubuntu
