    Microsoft trying to trash Open Office!

    Take a look at this! I know we have become a bit worried about OpenOffice.org and welcome the new LibreOffice - but, hey!, Steve Balmer must be getting worried if he is sanctioning such appallingly biased and distorted adverts.

    Isn't it like M$ to trash OpenOffice.org for it's 'failure' on the promise of improved interoperability with M$ products, as if it was fully the fault of OpenOffice.org? Hey, M$, how about opensourcing your APIs so FOSS developers can develop applications that will work with your programs? Hmm? No? Thought so.

    It isn't FOSS that is at fault here. One doesn't have to stand that far back to see that in the 'Software game' it's M$ that "doesn't play well with others." :P

    It's fiction, but if you haven't read Format C: by Edwin Black, pick it up and do so. For those familiar with M$, you'll find this book a very interesting read.

      In a way, it is good, it means MS is actually feeling threatened by OpenOffice.

          Titled "A Few Perspectives on OpenOffice.org," the video features a series of horror stories from customers who tried the open-source productivity suite and suffered from excess costs as well as IT resources, performance and compatibility issues.
          Costs? It's free as in beer and as in speech so I doubt anyone should incur in such costs. IBM based Lotus Symphony on OOo and made all of its employees use it instead. I've haven't read any IBM related story of failure because of that decision they made several months ago.

            The 'costs' referred to in the video were the 'time costs' in lost productivity and (in house) IT support. Just keep in mind, that this is a very biased (and distorted) view of M$ in an attempt to 'scare' existing clients of their software who might be concidering the move to Ooo.
