[Network] Firmware update taking an outrageous amount of time to download

    Get:1 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu plucky-updates/main amd64 linux-firmware amd64 20250317.git1d4c88ee-0u
    buntu1.6 [577 MB]

ETA is over 8 hours just for this one update! MY ISP provides about 6 Mb/s for both up and down, so why so slow?
Just to remind users and devs that Ubuntu and its flavors have a long way to go to be as usr friendly as they should be.

I typed CTRL-c and will run when I go to bed. Hopefully, it will finish while I am asleep, or maybe it will turn out to be a misconfigured server and someone will fix it.

We had the same problem yesterday. It took about 19 hours to pull that firmware file. The slow speed seemed be effecting everyone using Choice Wireless ISP. Sometimes you just need to bite bullet and wait.

Today, 24 hours later, the wireless speed is back up to our normal (700Kb/s) range.

[edit] Speed change, I can't type this early in the morning...

Hmmm ... 3 days later, it still won't go:

          Package download failed:

Well, I haven't run the update yet. Since it isn't just me, I will wait for it to get fixed before updating. I wonder if Russia or China is doing some cyber warfare against NATO and EU nations. We know Russia has been doing so for the past year or so, trying to convince us to stop supporting Ukraine, but it won't work; it will just make us mad at them.

steve 7233 -- mine finally did go OK just this morning, after a few days now (on two computers, each with 22.04, trying to get linux-firmware to install). FYI.

I just ran the update, and it completed in just a few seconds, so maybe they fixed it.
