[Network] Can not connect WebDAV

I tried to connect 3 different WebDAV accounts within Dolphin and none of them worked. I immediately get an error message as soon as I click on “Save + Connect” in the KDE Network Assistant: “The connection to the server cannot be established. Please check the settings and try again” The message pops up so quickly that I don't believe that a connection is even being attempted. If I do not enter any data in the input window of the assistant, the error screen and message are exactly the same.

Does anyone have any tips?

By the way...the 3 WebDAV accounts work perfectly on my Android and on my Windows notebook.

The problem lies on the setup. You are doing something wrong.

It works here for me.

Thank you for your answer.The document you are linking is exactly the document I used to set up WebDAV for my Nextcloud account.
My Synology account is even easier to setup but it also doesn't work for Dolphin / Kubuntu.
And as I said, I can set up those accounts in Mixplorer on Android without any connection problems.

Okay I got it working with inputting "davs:://my.servername:port" directly in the address bar of Dolphin but no chance with the connection dialog.
And "webdav://my.servername:port" in the address bar doesn't work either.

Sounds like you're missing a needed package. Do you have the gvfs-dnssd package

Thank you! Just checked - t's not installed. Do I need this? Isn't it for Gnome?

Yeah, I think so. I saw a post where it fixed the same issue using Dolphin from about a year ago. Might not be needed, but I couldn't anything in the "kio" named packages that seemed relevant.

It seems as though something must not be installed. Check dav2fs ?

Another possibility is the issue is somewhere in your user configuration. The test for that is to create a new user account from scratch and see if you can log into a webdavs site using it.

You are doing the wrong thing.

look:

• Open Dolphin and click “Network” in the left-hand “Places” column.
• Click on the icon labeled Add a Network Folder. The resulting dialog should appear with WebDAV already selected.
• If WebDAV is not selected, select it.
• Click Next.
• Enter the following settings:

• Name: the name you want to see in the Places bookmark, for example, Nextcloud
• Server: the Nextcloud domain name, for example, example.com (without http:// before or directories afterwards). its important. Dont use http, https, webdav or even webdavs Only your adrress. Dont use port number here.
• Port: put the port number here.
• Folder – Enter the path nextcloud/remote.php/dav/files/USERNAME/. You can find the correct address inside nextcloud. For example: /remote.php/dav/files/USERNAME

There is an advise about 2FA there. Remember to read about this.

Sorry for that question, but why use a webdav and not the nextcloud app? Any specific reason?

In time, i dont have gvfs-dnssd package and webdav works like a charm here. You dont need this.
