[Desktop] Add application icon to desktop not working

After a clean install ... adding an application icon to the desktop put one there, but it doesn't open the application. Adding the program to the task bar and favourites does work.

Seems to work fine here using Dolphin. What application are you adding to the Desktop and how? Have you tried adding other applications?

It's working now, so it's a mystery. Perhaps corrected in some recent updates? Right clicking on any application in the Application Laucher, then selecting "Add to Desktop."

It's the old adage, "Don't be an early adopter!"

Works fine here also, but glad you got it fixed even if you don't know what fixed it.
