    [SOLVED] Libvirt-manager and qcow2 file

I've been battling Windows 11 to get it installed as a VM, and I have finally gotten it to "work" (Windows 11 apparently being no one's favorite OS). I would like to make a backup of the qcow2 file, except I can't find it. I'm sure this doesn't give enough information, so someone please tell me what you need to know about my file system, etc. Thanks.

You don't say which hypervisor front end you're using, but QEMU/KVM uses /var/lib/libvert/images. You can also look at the XML file for the machine in question and the location of the virtual disk will be in there. Also, if you're using QEMU/KVM the location is set in the "Connection Details" > "Storage" settings and you can set a custom location if you wish. I have a dedicated drive for VM's so I store everything on it.

Also don't forget, if you're backing up a VM, you need the XML file as well as the image file.

Thanks, OL. You are right; I'm using QEMU/KVM. Thanks also for the reminder to back up the XML file as well.
