    Firefox without bookmarks

Sometimes when loading Firefox or a fork of the same I get an error message in the tool bar saying that my bookmarks could not be loaded. This has happened on a snap Firefox. a flatpak Floorp and an appimage Waterfox. The message states that another program might be using the bookmarks, but that seems unlikely to me. What could be this mysterious program? In any case, once I reload the browser, the bookmarks toolbar reappears and everything is OK. So it's not a major problem. What is happening here? Is this a known bug?

how many different versions of firefox are you trying to use on your bookmarks file?

maybe just stick to using one one or have separate bookmarks for each browser.

Just two at the moment--the latest snap Firefox and the latest Floorp., though not at the same time. They're both synced.

I suspect that sometimes you've got firefox processes running in the background that you're not aware of. I suggest running the system monitor to show processes in tree view to see them.

I've just tried that, and didn't see anything while not running Firefox.

In Firefox, click the menu (three lines top-right) > Settings > Sync. Make sure you’re logged in and check if “Bookmarks” is selected under “Choose what to sync.” Sometimes after reinstalling or changing systems, it silently disables certain items without warning.
