    Problem with 26.04

I downloaded 26.04 and attempted to burn it to an ISO dvd disc. Message came up that it was too large to fit on the DVD.

That is because it is by a small amount.
You would need a dual-layer disk or use a USB stick.
Many/most of the Ubuntu flavors are over the size of a standard DVD these days. Even Xubuntu. Lubuntu is still under.

    Kubuntu ISO = ~4.7GiB = 5.046586573 GB

        The obvious answer.
I downloaded it at my house in the mountains, I have faster internet there.
I brought a recordable DVD with me to burn the installation disc.
Unfortunately, I didn't have any thumb drives. I going to keep a supply of them.

          In perspective:
This is someone who recalls loading Windows and OS/2 from floppies.

Yep, I remember loading my first Linux distro Slackware from 15 or so Floppy discs. back in the Mid 90's. I now keep a supply of usb sticks handy.
Have one that is 64 gbs and use it for ventoy which makes it easy no burning needed just copy the .iso to the stick and away you go.
            Good luck.
