[SOLVED] OEM installation option in Kubuntu?

Hello, I have a question about the OEM installation option. I couldn't find it in Kubuntu 24.04. There isn't such an option or I couldn't find it? If there isn't such an option, are there any plans to add OEM installation option in the next point releases of 24.04 or in the next major releases of Kubuntu?

I've never seen an OEM install option in the Kubuntu "vanilla" release. You would have to get an OEM install from the OEM. The OEM kernels are supplied, but not used unless you have an OEM installer ISO.

In other words, by definition, an OEM install comes from an OEM provider, not the Kubuntu team.

The question is why do you think you need an OEM installer?

An OEM install basically basically moves the user creation to the next boot. So it is useful for OEMs for pre installed systems, or for regular folks installing Linux for friends and family, etc

I'm not 100% sure since the move to using Calamares as the installer, but there should be an option for this in the Grub menu. If not, there might be a way to manually start Calamares to do this, or there may be a menu entry for it in the live desktop session. I'll look next time I'm near my computer.

Lubuntu has this option, and they use/share a few of the same things, like the installer.

        Hello again,

I am sorry, probably I didn't explain myself well. I am not talking about OEM ISOs or kernels, I am talking about "OEM Install" option as one of the options that appear in GRUB menu while booting to the default ISOs. It is available in Ubuntu: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Ub...aller_Overview Also in flavors like Lubuntu: https://manual.lubuntu.me/stable/1/1...tallation.html and it was also added to Xubuntu in the first point release of 24.04: https://xubuntu.org/news/xubuntu-24-04-released/ And that option is also available in Ubuntu deriatives like Linux Mint: https://linuxmint-installation-guide...atest/oem.html

But I couldn't find any information about Kubuntu for that feature. It seems that feature is not always consistent between the releases and the flavors. For example, I found that in Lubuntu it was not working in 20.04, but now in 24.04 it is working. And another example, for Ubuntu Mate, the feature is broken for 24.04 release.

In general OEM installation option is more convenient for me when I make installations for family and friends; because it lets me first to install the distro, make appropriate adjustments for the user and in the end after clicking "Finish Preparation" and shutting down the computer, I can give the computer to the user, so that the user can determine its own username/password after opening the computer without my intervention.

I hope I was able to explain myself well now. Thanks a lot for the quick answer and helpfulness!

Edit: I didn't see the second answer while I was writing, that's exactly what I was talking about. Thank you.

Thanks a lot, that screenshot definitely answers my question very clearly. Currently, I temporarily have to use a Windows laptop with a non-admin account; that's why my only options were using distrosea (it seems like it doesn't show the GRUB menu, that's why I couldn't find the option probably) or searching the relevant information in Internet which also I couldn't find.

I am sorry again if I misexplained my question in my first message as I am not a native English speaker. And thank you so much for taking time to help.

How can I mark the thread as "Solved"?
