Refresh rate resets to 25Hz at every boot after BIOS update.

    Hello,

I've been using Kubuntu 24.04 on an MSI PRO A620M-E board with an AMD 6900XT GPU with no issues for a while. Unfortunately I made the mistake of updating my motherboard BIOS and rollbacks are not allowed.
Now every boot my screen refresh rate is reset to 25Hz and I have to set it back to 144hz from System Settings. Is there a way to force it to stay at 144Hz?

Sounds like something you would need to fix in sddm.

    The file to edit is:

    /usr/share/sddm/scripts/Xsetup

You could add an xrandr command to set your monitor and hopefully it will remain set that way when you log in. It's worth a try I think.

You might look at renaming or moving ~/.local/share/kscreen, or at least poking around in there -- this is where the monitor settings are kept, so starting with a fresh set might cure this oddity.
You'll probably need to reboot, and possible you may need to do this while Plasma is not running.
