If by "Examples" you mean the actual messages, I would think it impossible to offer advice without actual messages.

For example, the Firefox snap error you posted above is or may be related to a bug in the Firefox snap. You either need to update the snap, update the AppArmor profile to give the snap "permission" to read "/proc/pressure/memory", or remove the snap and use the deb version of Firefox.

Not all the messages are from the same source I assume so there may be many separate solutions to solve each individual problem.

Well then, then the reply is: "the exact messages out of the syslog are needed". My question in return: When I post them here, do I give information that might compromise my privacy or make my system vulnerable in any way?'

Concerning firefox: I am already planning to release my Kubuntu installation from snap so that will se solved soon.

Good idea IMO to remove snap completely. It's just not needed as far as I'm concerned.

As far as your question above, my point was how is anyone supposed to offer suggestions or solutions without any actual information? I have been using Linux since 1997 or so and have never seen anything in a syslog or dmesg that I deemed to be a security problem. So my question is what information would you consider to be a security risk? I see my user login name in syslog and time stamps and process IDs and not much else other than the log text itself. However, I could be totally wrong so you'll have to determine that yourself.

For example, my USB camera is not very Linux friendly and "barfs" once in awhile (usually during an important video chat) so here is the syslog entry:
        Code:
026-01-25T11:09:54.794846-05:00 office kernel: message repeated 98 times: [ usb usb4-port3: Cannot enable. Maybe the USB cable is bad?]
2026-01-25T11:09:58.842846-05:00 office kernel: usb usb4-port3: Cannot enable. Maybe the USB cable is bad?
My hostname is in there but I don't think that's risky because you'd still have to get through my router firewall AND ufw to even begin to use the hostname for anything. Regardless, a simple sed command or "find and replace" in Kate would change or remove that snippet of information in less than a second.

        Or this one:
        Code:
2026-01-25T11:03:11.197727-05:00 office vivaldi-stable[3440141]: [3440133:3440133:0125/110311.197380:ERROR:chromium/extensions/browser/extension_host.cc:469] Received EventAck for extension jffbochibkahlbbmanpmndnhmeliecah for an unknown event.
2026-01-25T11:03:11.206910-05:00 office vivaldi-stable[3440141]: [3440133:3440133:0125/110311.197404:ERROR:chromium/extensions/browser/extension_host.cc:469] Received EventAck for extension jffbochibkahlbbmanpmndnhmeliecah for an unknown event.
2026-01-25T11:03:11.206944-05:00 office vivaldi-stable[3440141]: [3440133:3440133:0125/110311.197411:ERROR:chromium/extensions/browser/extension_host.cc:469] Received EventAck for extension jffbochibkahlbbmanpmndnhmeliecah for an unknown event.
2026-01-25T11:03:11.206961-05:00 office vivaldi-stable[3440141]: [3440133:3440133:0125/110311.197418:ERROR:chromium/extensions/browser/extension_host.cc:469] Received EventAck for extension jffbochibkahlbbmanpmndnhmeliecah for an unknown event.

Again, my hostname and now you know I use Vivaldi browser. Does that expose anything risky? I don't think so.

So - just my opinion - if you want help sorting out this problem, scroll through your syslog and suss out what is getting repeated over and over and bloating your syslog, review it for anything you deem a security risk, remove that part, and post it.

Since there is a lot I know but also a lot I don't know, I wondered if I could copy everything from the syslog. I was indeed thinking about certain names and or numbers that might make my system vulnerable once they are exposed. I did see some IP adresses and all. That might be solved soon anyway once a technician comes fixing problems with the internet signal. A part from that, I think the firefox problem will be solved as soon as I have dumped snap. That is this problem: apparmor="DENIED" operation="open" class="file" profile="snap.firefox.firefox" name="/proc/pressure/memory" etc etc etc.
Once this is done, I take a look into the syslog again and I come back here if the problem is still there that is. Indeed I will leave out the info I do not trust but since I am not an expert and quite suspicious by character I might leave out too much.

          Thank you in advance,

Update: getting rid of snap did already some good things to the syslog. Special thanks to Schwarzer Kater https://www.kubuntuforums.net/forum/...et-rid-of-snap.
