    Hide labels for desktop icons

If possible, I would like to have just the icons show on the desktop without the label underneath.

An unclean hack: right-click the icon, click properties, application tab, and set the name to a space. Note that a blank name doesn't work, one gets the text "Icon", but at least on my 23.04 a space works.

Can't argue with that suggestion. I tried it. One of the items was a mapped share and that broke it, but it was easy enough to fix. Should be OK for the other two links though.

I found mentions of doing what I wanted in various places, but none were specific to Kubuntu and those I tried failed so I asked here.

Yes, that has the desire effect. I was changing the name in Properties in the wrong place and getting a warning about an empty icon name.

Seems like this could be a feature. Maybe put in a request on the bug tracker...
