How to Change Password in System Settings?

I have a fresh install of Kubuntu 22.04 LTS + updates. I would like to change the password of the main user configured during install. Here are the steps that I am taking:

Kubuntu Menu > System Settings > Users > Change Password

I'm clicking the button on the right side panel. There is only one user, the one setup during install. When I set the password this way and then logout, this newly set password does not work. The old password does still work.

I have checked the Kubuntu Manual PDF linked to on the Help and Support page of the Kubuntu website, and there isn't any guidance for changing passwords.

How do I set the password using System Settings?

    Open Konsole, then enter:

    Code:
    passwd
    and following the prompts.

I believe that you may have to reboot for the new password to be used,

i am having the same problem reported above. System Settings user password change modal window does nothing AND rebooting is not the solution.

        Using the CLI
        passwd
        command works fine.

This is nuts. I Hope KDE fixes it - not a minor function, I think.
