Installed 21.10 set up as dual boot with Win 10 Pro on an HP laptop. I've done this before with no issues. If I try to restart from Kubuntu, it doesn't work. Machine never restarts. Power light shows the machine being on after leaving Kubuntu ,but Grub menu never comes back up. Starts just fine from a cold start and reboots fine from Windows. Has me stumped. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

When the screen goes to the Kubuntu logo as it restarts - try pressing ESC and it should toggle to a console screen. Have your phone ready to take a pic and post what you see there.
You might have to try ESC a couple times until the console appears. -
I had a similar issue and had to reinstall Kubuntu without the option of installing proprietary drivers.
After the installation without the driver option I could run:
and under the "Additional Drivers" tab i could pick my GPU driver (nvidia-driver-495).Code:sudo software-properties-kde
