[Post-Install] Cant print

After the recent update I no longer can print despite printing happily for months. Changed drivers, tried different commands and no matter what I do I cant print. I have 2 printers (Brother Inkjet and HP inkjet), both are experiencing the same behaviour. Either the job doesn't go into the printer queue at all or it does and then prints a blank page 10 minutes later. CUPS issue? Anybody else having the same issue? Any suggestions?

Remove and re-install the printers. My HP goes though a thing once in awhile - like once a year - where it changes it's CUPS name. I don't know why it happens or whether it's the printer or CUPS doing it, but removing and re-installing it seems to work.

Just a follow on ... I've strangely watched the list of printer queues magically change after a reboot. It seems the CUPS discovery system is "misbehaving" . I have 3 printers and had 3 corresponding queues but sometimes I see 5 where 2 of the printers have extra entries magically appearing. Its intermittent. The 3 "normal" ones now work. So I can print but cant explain the random changes

Are any of the three printers 'multi-function'?

Yes, 2 of them are. (Brother - inkjet, HP - smart tank) What difference does that make?

Multi-function printers will often show up in Printers more than once; one occurrence for 'printer', another for 'scanner', and such.

In that case what can happen is the wireless address can change. I always set my wireless printers to a fixed IP address outside the normal DHCP range. Then if something changes in the network the printer will not be affected.
Mine is set to 192.168.0.220 for instance. The address will depend on your router.

Thank you. That is very helpful. Printing serms more solid now. The HP doesnt have a direct driver but it was installed using HP's smart app on my phone as advised. I noticed that Epson do have linux drivers. I dont know if that helps with stability. Anyone else running a HP smart tank printer?
