    [Desktop] Bluetooth adapter vanised.

My bluetooth vanished after the last upgrade. I was hoping that it would be fixed after today's upgrade but no.

After that last upgrade it informed me that i needed to reboot. After booting I had no bluetooth adapter. So I am unable to use my bluetooth speakers,
when I go system settings bluetooth. It tells me that there is no bluetooth adpter and need to use an external adapter for bluetooth.

My speakers had been running fine with the exception of having ti reconnect them from time to time.

    AI Overview

To identify your Bluetooth adapter from the command line on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, use the interactive bluetoothctl utility and type show, or run hardware query commands like lsusb or dmesg in your terminal.

    Using Bluetooth-Specific Tools
    • bluetoothctl: Type bluetoothctl in your terminal to enter the interactive prompt, then type show to see details of your active controller, MAC address, and manufacturer. Type exit when done.
    • btmgmt info: Runs a management-level inquiry via the BlueZ stack to display installed controller indices, addresses, and versions.

    Checking Physical Hardware Buses
    • lsusb | grep -i bluetooth: Lists connected USB-based Bluetooth adapters along with their vendor and device IDs (such as Intel or Realtek).
    • lspci | grep -i bluetooth: Detects internal PCIe or PCI-bus connected wireless/Bluetooth combination cards.

    Inspecting Kernel and System Logs
    • sudo dmesg | grep -i bluetooth: Searches recent kernel ring-buffer messages for loaded Bluetooth hardware drivers, firmware logs, and initialization step

Copy and paste the output each command in your reply.

When you say 'upgrade', you mean upgrade to 26.04? What version were you using when the Bluetooth was working?

This is a desktop. I have been running 26.04 for about two months now. Bluetooth was working well. I would have to connect the speakers after it would go to sleep. After seven to ten days I would have to remove my speakers and pair them again. The missing bluetooth adapter was after the big update two weeks ago.

Have you tried booting into the previous kernel to eliminate the current kernel as the potential problem?

No I haven't because I am entirely sure how to do it. I an 68 and have gotten how to use the command line.
Back in the day I installed Slackware 3.5 on a 486 that had a 1440 modem. It only took me two weeks reconfigure the driver for the modem to work.

Just reboot your PC, and when at the Grub menu, down arrow to Advanced options for Ubuntu and press Enter.
Down arrow twice so previous kernel entry (the one without (recovery mode)) is highlighted and press Enter.

I tried the last kernel and the one before that. I'm running 7.0.0-27-generic (64-bit). This is just frustrating

I just do all up dates using synaptic. I use this computer for reading news. Streaming various platforms. Paying a few bills that I cannot do on my phone.
