It's been happening for the past week or so where I've been randomly running out of RAM. I've monitored my typical RAM usage, and it's typically 4GB with Firefox + Discord + A game. Randomly my computer will freeze up and about 3 minutes later a program will crash, and I'll get a notification stating I ran out of RAM. I have 16 GB and this hasn't been an issue until now.

I would leave a system monitor running, maybe it's processes screen, ordered by memory usage. If you don't have screen space to spare in your normal usage, there's a memory usage widget that you could put on a panel you could keep an occasional eye on that, and when usage starts to go up have a look at the monitor.Regards, John Little

I started getting similar issues after the upgrade from 25.04 to 25.10, and when I looked, somehow (maybe from the 25.04 installation?) I had a surprisingly tiny swapfile. When I looked at the swap in System Monitor, it was always maxxed out, and the system was frequently hanging at uncomfortable times.Originally posted by SolarFreak View PostIt's been happening for the past week or so where I've been randomly running out of RAM. I created a new swapfile about the size of my physical RAM (about the same as yours) and now it usually shows empty or nearly empty.
I never use suspend (I don't even know if you can, using a swapfile instead of a swap partition) but I think based on my observation I could probably get by with just a couple or four gigabytes of swap.
My system does sometime occasionally pause for a few seconds, but it doesn't start killing off processes since I increased swap.
Please report back if you see this and let me know how big your swap is. I use System Monitor
