[Post-Install] Plucky Upgrades are Disabled for the Moment

Please note that 25.04 upgrade notifications were inadvertently enabled prematurely. They have been turned off. If you are now unable to upgrade or noticed the notification previously, this is why.

Upgrades are usually not enabled immediately after a release, but happen soon after.

    From the team:
*Please note: Upgrades should not have been turned on yet, but unfortunately they were. This applies to Kubuntu, Ubuntu, or any other ubuntu flavour. They have now been turned off again. Apologies if you got a broken upgrade. Usually the fix will be to make sure the kubuntu-desktop package and its depends/recommends are installed.

Once some packages are updated in 24.10 and things are all working properly, the notifications should come.

I got the upgrade notice and installed it over my 24-10. My install lasted for hours and then the boot failed. I go the strange login screen and entered the same password I used to install the 25-04 but not is not accepted. I am stuck and do not have enough Kubuntu experience to know what to do now. What is my recovery sequence now? Have I lost all that I had done before the update? I would appreciate any direction I might get. My Kubuntu experience is really challenged which doesn't help any. Thank you. BobC ke6kgo.

Looks like they re-directed the ISO d/l link back to 24.04 also

If it was, it looks to be back to normal now.

How long will Kubuntu be out of the game? When will I be able to upgrade to Kubuntu 25.04 from the command line?

                  Until they fix things?

Is a straight install; download ISO and burn/install from that; working?

Yes, I did that yesterday. Last week the 25.04 link redirected you to a 24.04 install. I got 25.04 ok this last time.

Yes. The issues are purely upgrade related.

I did a fresh install about 4 days after 25.04 released so I guess it's just upgrading that is borked but they should fix that soon. I have done a couple of upgrades before they noticed the problem and turned it off I wounder if the desktop got borked. Should I reinstall from the USB and tell it not to upgrade the packages?
Just to remind users and devs that Ubuntu and its flavors have a long way to go to be as usr friendly as they should be.

I keep seeing the update icon in my tray. Is it working now, or are they still working on it?

                          UpDATE or uGRADE?

The release upgrade is still disabled. So you do want to install normal updates, as these are probably needed for the upgrade when they have fixed everything and deemed it ready.

                          It's close:

To be clear, I am running 25.04. Is it ok to run an update on this?
