    Do you have any other OS that you could run on that box -- like a live Koppix live CD or something else non-Kubuntu? It's starting to sound more like a hardware/thermal problem than a driver or boot option problem.

      Thermal was the first thing I thought of, but as soon as I rebooted I checked the temp and it was fairly low. I'm starting to think hardware too, now. I just tried a kubuntu live cd and it did it in safe graphics mode. I'm burning a mepis 7 live cd now, and I'll try that next. If it does it with mepis, I'll go buy a new video card.

              Agree and Agree. Do hate it when it is Hardware realated. I had a problem a while back with a USB HUB. Was that last thing checked.
