Re: computer fine, me the problem

That looks the way it is supposed to - therefore, back to square one:

    Code:
    sudo apt-get update

Re: computer fine, me the problem

I would guess that I have just to change some permissions but let's go slowly, for a start I have in my home folder an extracted file of

      install_flash_player_7_linux.tar.gz

how do I install this then since right hand click has no install option

          - here is my sources list in /etc/apt/my sources
          - how should I change it
          - funny thing is that this worked well on both machines in England and now that I am back in Geneva it doesn't want to know and I get timed out on apt-get update

May this be related to the fact that Geneva does belong to the Money Empire (aka Switzerland) and not to the British one Being an "imported Swiss resident" myself, I make us of the following list (without problems):

Re: computer fine, me the problem

thanks everyone, I took the computer to another network and tried it there, it upgraded to edgy straight off, which leads me to think that my own network ports are blocked on this router because although everything works perfectly now, I cannot use firefox on this network, mp3 and flv. format streams are working(except with konqueror the streams are a bit choppy

                anyways, all well now, thanks
