    pulseeffects causing install problems

I set up a new HP Notebook with Kubuntu 16.04.3, dualboot with win10, everything is working as far as os's go but having problems installing programs in Kubuntu. I installed pulseeffects, didn't like it, tried to uninstall but I must have done something wrong. Now I get issues even trying to install cheese, how I found this bug.

After removing pulseeffects, and before attempting to install cheese, did you update the package cache?

I don't know, I did this the other day but didn't notice anything till I tried to install cheese today, but it won't install and Muon package manager won't do it either, gives me another error, even won't uninstall pulseefects, which still shows as installed but I cannot uninstall it.
I have subsequently did the update also.

From a konsole, what warning/error message(s) do you get when attempting to uninstall pulseeffects?

The error is telling you that the program isn’t found in the active repositories you are using. Where/how did you get/install pulseeffects?

It was a deb file, gdebi installed it, I think I uninstalled it wrong though.

Then, to fix your current problem, downloand/install the .deb package again, but using dpkg instead.

                    http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/...n1/dpkg.1.html

Once it’s reinstalled, you can use dpkg to properly remove it.

This has to be installed first.
                        glib-compile-schemas

This is why going outside the repository is an experience to be enjoyed only by those who know, from experience, what they are doing. How do you know how much experience is necessary? When you can undo your experiments without asking for help.

IF you were using Btrfs and made a snapshot of @ and @home before you installed pulseeffects then you could rollback to the snapshot in about 3 minutes, and your system would be like it was before you installed pulseeffects..

I made my snapshot after this fiasco. I cannot find that file "glib-compile-schemas" anywhere,

It's on mine, and, it is part of glib2
                            /usr/bin/glib-compile-schemas
                            /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/glib-2.0/glib-compile-schemas

Have you tried repeating this combo of commands?
                            sudo apt -f install
                            sudo dpkg --configure -a

                            Repeat them both several times.
